College of Environmental and Resource Sciences(CERS) 

     CERS,Zhejiang University,established in June 1999, consists of three departments, namely, Department of Environmental Science, Department of Environmental Engineering and Department of Resource Science.Under its administration there are 7 institutes and 1 experimental center. There are 121 faculties and staffs in the school, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences , one Changjiang Scholarship professor, one national outstanding youth scienctist, 40 professors and 40 associate professors. At present, CERS has 24 postdoctors,398 graduates(224 doctor candidates and 174 for master degree),and 335 full time undergraduate students at school.
      The school owns one Key Lab of the Ministry of Agriculture(Laboratory of Subtropical Soil and Plant Nutrition), one Key Lab of Ministry of Education(Laboratory of Remediation of Polluted Environment and Ecological Health), one Provincial Key Lab(Laboratory of Agriculture Remote Sensing and Information Technology), and 7 research centers(Research Center of Environmental Technology, Center of Agricultural Information Science and Technology...). Currently the college has one National Key Discipline(Plant Nutrition Science) and two Provicial/Ministry level Key Disciplines(Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science).
       Under the unremitting effort of all faculty and staff, great progress has been made. In the evaluation of nationwide first grade discipline for the year of 2003 to 2004 by the Chinese Ministry of Education, "Environment Science and Engineering" and "Agricultural Resource Utilization" of the cschool were both ranked No.1. to continually achieve excellence in teaching and research,.
      The funds for scientific research has been increasing rapidly, from 8.09 millions yuan at the beginning of CERS to 47.0 millions yuan in 2005(8th in ZJU), and the average fund per faculty  increased from 60 thousands yuan to more than 400 thousands yuan,which was among the best in the similar disciplines in China. In 2005,CERS got 3 international cooperate projects and 2 subprojects of national "863 plan", 1 subproject of national "973 plan" and 21 projects of natural science fund. In recent 5 years,CERS published 219 works,more than 1500 papers (more than 300 per year in average),among which, 219 were collected by SCI, EI and ISTP. The number of papers of CERS collected by SCI was the most in nationwide disciplines related to  environment in 2005.
      The school attaches great importance to its exchange and cooperation with international partners. CERS organized undergraduate students visited Michegan Sate University, UC of Berkeley and others famous American universities.So far, cooperative relationship with over 30 oversea universities and research institutes has been established.
      CERS has totally accepted 1843 of graduates ,among whom 828 are doctor candidates doctorate papers have been awarded as "national 100 excellent doctorate papers "(total of 18 papers for ZJU),in addition 1 paper got the nomination award. CERS has been ranked first or second on the order list of  "DMB" academic activities and achievements in scientific research of graduates for continuous three years. The quality of graduate education in CERS is among the best in ZJU.
