Overview of College of Environmental and Resource Sciences

The College of Environmental and Resource Sciences (CERS) has two first-level disciplines, namely Environmental Science and Engineering, Agricultural Resources and Environment, and six second-level disciplines, namely Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Soil Science, Plant Nutrition, Agricultural Remote Sensing and Information Technology, and Water Resources Utilization and Protection. 

Environmental Science and Engineering has been selected as the national Double First-Class construction disciplines. Agricultural Resources and Environment is the first batch of national key disciplines. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education, Environmental Science and Engineering is listed as A, Agricultural Resources and Environment is listed as A+. As of 2020, CERS was ranked 43th in the QS Environmental Science and 117th in the ESI Environment/Ecology. 

CERS is responsible for the implementation of the Ecological Civilization Project, one of the most important element of Zhejiang University Innovation 2030 (which is a key university-wide strategic framework to advance the construction of “Double First-Class” Initiative).

CERS has 131 faculty members, including two academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (incl. one dual-employed academician). CERS has two Creative Research Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one Innovation Team of the Ministry of Education, two Innovation Team of the Ministry of Agriculture, two Zhejiang Leading Team of S&T Innovation. In the past five years, the College has undertaken many important projects, such as the major and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science and Technology Major Project (Water Project), National Key R&D Projects, etc.
