Earth Critical Zone (ECZ) is an international academic journal co-hosted by Zhejiang University and Tianjin University, and published in collaboration with Elsevier. The journal provides research results to a global audience in an open-access format, with no Article Publishing Charge for the first three years!


ECZ is dedicated to publishing research and review articles that explore the dynamic interactions between rock, soil, water, air, and living organisms, which collectively shape the Earth's surface. The journal addresses critical global challenges such as food security, environmental pollution, ecological degradation, climate change, and the pursuit of sustainable development. ECZ emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating natural sciences with contributions from social sciences and engineering to provide comprehensive solutions to these pressing issues.
