Call for Participants: 2025 Zhejiang University 'Qizhen Youth Forum' on Environmental and Resource Sciences

Zhejiang University’s College of Environmental and Resource Sciences is hosting the 'Qizhen Youth Forum' in mid-January 2025 in Hangzhou. This event brings together young scholars to exchange ideas and tackle key challenges in environment and resources. We welcome talented researchers worldwide in environmental science, engineering, agriculture, and related fields to join us!
Recruitment fields
1. Environmental Science and Engineering
Environmental Chemistry and Toxicology, New Pollutants and Environmental Health, Soil Safety and Green Remediation, Atmospheric Pollution Control and Global Change Response, Water Risk Control and Green Watershed, Environmental Microbiology and Ecological Engineering, Waste Disposal and Resource Recovery, Groundwater Pollution Control and Remediation, Physical Pollution Effects and Control, Environmental and Ecosystem Management, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Environment, etc.
2. Agricultural Resources and Environment
Soil processes and functions, Plant nutrition and fertilizer utilization, Remote sensing and information technology in agriculture, Remediation and pollution of soil and water, Soil-biota interactions and soil health, Carbon and nitrogen processes and global change, etc.
Invited participants
1. Generally under 35 years old; holds a Ph.D. from a high-ranking university or research institution worldwide; for those with formal academic positions, the age limit may be appropriately relaxed.
2. Recognized as an outstanding young talent in their research field, with achievements acknowledged by peers, and demonstrates potential to become a leading scholar or exceptional talent in the field.
3. Interested in applying for the Zhejiang University “Hundred Talents Program” Researcher position.
4. Plans to apply for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) through Zhejiang University.
Participation Fees
The forum does not charge a registration fee. For young scholars attending in person, the organizers will reimburse round-trip travel expenses (domestic or international) within the limits set by Zhejiang University’s financial policies. Accommodation during the forum will be arranged by the organizers.

About us
The College of Environmental and Resource Sciences (CERS) has two first-level disciplines, namely Environmental Science and Engineering, Agricultural Resources and Environment. Environmental Science and Engineering has been selected as the national Double First-Class construction disciplines. Agricultural Resources and Environment is the first batch of national key disciplines. Agricultural Resources and Environment is the first batch of national key disciplines. In the fourth round of discipline evaluation of the Ministry of Education, Environmental Science and Engineering is listed as A, Agricultural Resources and Environment is listed as A+.
CERS has 125 faculty members, including one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. CERS has two Creative Research Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one Innovation Team of the Ministry of Education, two Innovation Team of the Ministry of Agriculture, two Zhejiang Leading Team of S&T Innovation. In the past five years, the College has undertaken many important projects, such as the major and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science and Technology Major Project (Water Project), National Key R&D Projects, etc.
ZJU100 Young Professor Program
Starting from July 1, 2020, Zhejiang University has fully implemented the ZJU100 Young Professor program, inviting outstanding young talents who meet the needs of academic development, are in line with international scientific frontiers and key disciplinary areas, have achieved significant accomplishments, possess development potential, and strongly identify with the culture and values of Zhejiang University. Young talents selected for this program will be appointed as ZJU100 Young Professors, with positions that balance teaching and research responsibilities. The basic requirements, job responsibilities, and work and living conditions are as follows:
I. Job Requirements
A Ph.D. from a high-level domestic or international university, with academic qualifications equivalent to an assistant professor or associate professor at a top international university.
Recognized as a leading young talent in their research field, with the potential to become an academic leader in the field. In principle, they should be able to independently develop an academic direction that aligns with the discipline's development needs.
Age generally not exceeding 35 years old.
II. Work and Living Benefits
Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary will be offered. National-level talent awardees will receive additional allowances from the college.
Housing Resources: Researchers can rent faculty apartments. After promotion to a tenured position, if eligible for the university’s talent housing program, they can purchase a talent apartment at a discounted price.
Start-up Funding: Competitive research start-up funds will be provided according to the disciplinary field.
Team Building: The researcher will have the qualification to recruit PhD students, with support from the university and college in terms of PhD student quotas. Postdoctoral recruitment will also be supported.
Support Services: Assistance with children’s school enrollment, daycare, spouse employment, and help with household registration, permanent residency for foreigners, etc.
