附:诺曼·厄帕霍夫(Norman Uphoff)教授简介:
Prof. Norman Uphoff is professor of government and international agriculture at Cornell University, on the faculty since 1970, and currently director of the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs. He has been working with the System of Rice Intensification (SRI) for the past 15 years and has made presentations on SRI ideas and experience in 40 countries. Since the concepts and methods of SRI are now being extended to other crops, such as wheat, sugarcane, millet, and even legumes and vegetables, his work is focusing on agroecological theory and practices more broadly now, beyond rice, although this remains the most potent innovation for improving world food security and reducing poverty. His most recent book, co-edited with scientists from a number of countries, is BIOLOGICAL APPROACHES TO SUSTAINABLE SOIL SYSTEMS, published by CRC Press in 2006. While SRI has been mostly practice-driven, there are many important and even very basic scientific research issues to be addressed from its experience.
